Tinker Visiting Professor
Dr. Palacio is a lawyer and historian with a doctorate in History from Florida International University. He now serves as professor and researcher at the National University of Colombia Amazon Headquarters. His research interests have focused on political ecology, regional development, globalization and the State, justice and society, and environmental history. He has developed projects in environmental history of Latin America, urban environmental studies, political ecology, climate change and strategic plans of Science, Technology and Innovation for the Amazonian departments of Amazonas and Guainía.
In 2008, he joined the Scientific Committee of the International Human Dimensions Program of Global Environmental Change, based at the United Nations University in Bonn, Germany. Recently, he has published and served as editor of Historia Ambiental de Bogotá y la Sabana (2008), and Ecología Política de la Amazonia (2010).
