Tomás Straka

Tomás Straka is Associate Professor and Director of the Master’s programs of History of the Americas and History of Venezuela at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. He is also president of the Rómulo Betancourt Foundation. Straka has a remarkable knowledge of Venezuelan history since independence and is one of the editors of the Historical Dictionary of Venezuela that came out last year. He is a frequent contributor to various publications and online media, such as Nueva Sociedad, Debates IESA, El Nacional and Prodavinci.

Given the degree of interest in Venezuela at University of Chicago, he will contribute by deepening the understanding of contemporary Venezuela and engaging diverse local audiences interested in understanding more about the current situation.
