Tinker Visiting Professor
Paola Bergallo focuses on comparative public law, empirical legal studies, gender and the law, health and food rights, and the rule of law. Her research has examined how courts, legislatures, and social movements shape the recognition and enforcement of reproductive and health rights in Latin America, how constitutional and statutory frameworks travel across jurisdictions, and how legal mobilization reshapes public policy. She has served as an expert witness before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the Colombian Constitutional Court, and the Argentine Congress, and has advised the Argentine Ministry of Health and the Supreme Court's Office on Gender. She has presented her work at conferences and universities across the Americas and Europe. She is a founding member of Red Alas (Latin American Network of Academics on Gender and Sexuality), a longtime member of SELA (Seminario en Latinoamérica de Teoría Constitucional y Política) convened by Yale Law School, and co-editor of the Política & Derecho book series at Siglo XXI. At Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, she is Professor of Law and founding director of the Program on Law and Development. She is also an Independent Researcher at CONICET, a Global Visiting Professor at NYU School of Law, and a Global Fellow at the Chr. Michelsen Institute and the University of Bergen.
