Tinker Visiting Professor

Dr. Edwin Román-Ramírez is an archaeologist who graduated from the University of San Carlos in Guatemala. He received a master’s degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin in 2011 and a Doctorate in Latin American Studies from the same institution in 2017. He has over two decades of experience in the field and was previously the Director of the El Zotz Archaeological Project. He is currently the director of the Southern Tikal Archaeological Project, which focuses on urban planning and intercultural relations in Mesoamerica. Dr. Román-Ramírez has also been a visiting professor at Skidmore College in the United States and Universidad del Valle de Guatemala.
