Ernesto Domínguez López

Ernesto Domínguez López is a full professor of history and political sciences at the Center for Hemispheric and United States Studies of the University of Havana. After studying nuclear physics for five years, he went on to study history, earning a bachelor´s (2006), master´s (2008), and doctoral degrees (2011) from the University of Havana. Currently, he is completing a research Ph.D. in political science at the University of Rostock (Germany).

Ernesto has significant research and teaching experience. He has applied complexity and general systems theory to historical and political processes to develop a complex evolutionary theory of history. Within this theoretical framework, he has worked on a variety of topics, including knowledge capitalism, Cuba-U.S. relations, international relations, political theory and the theory of history, Cuban history, and Cuban foreign policy. He has published over 70 articles and chapters and authored and edited six books on these topics.

He is an Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Buckingham (UK), and he has held visiting positions and fellowships at the University of Rostock, the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Arcadia University, and the Carter Presidential Center. He has also been a guest lecturer at nearly 30 universities in the U.S., Latin America, and Europe.
