Daniel Party

Daniel Party is a professor at the Instituto de Music of the Universidad Católica de Chile. Before that he taught in the Music Department at Saint Mary's College (Indiana, USA).

He has held visiting positions at Tulane University, Brown University, University of Oregon, and University of Georgia.. Between 2015 and 2019 he served as Director of Graduate Studies & Research for Universidad Católica's School of Arts. Dr. Party earned his PhD at the University of Pennsylvania, and his undergraduate degrees–a BS in Physics and a BA in Music–at Universidad Católica de Chile.
His research interests include popular music and culture of the Americas and Spain, gender and sexuality, and music and social movements. He is the principal investigator of the project Gender Performance in the Music of Víctor Jara, a three-year study funded by ANID's FONDECYT Regular (1220146, 2022-2025).
