Tinker Visiting Professor
Sayak Valencia has a PhD in Feminist Philosophy and Critical Theory from La Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She is currently a Full Professor and researcher in the Departamento de Estudios Culturales at El Colegio de la Frontera Norte /CONACYT in Tijuana-México. She is member of the National System of Research (SNI 1) of the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología of México. Her research focuses on feminism, trans-feminism, Queer/Cuir Theory, capitalism, necropolitics, violence, border studies, colonialism and decolonialism and most recently in the politics of mourning and social reparation in context of violence. She is author of the book Capitalismo Gore (Paidós, 2010; Gore Capitalism, MIT Press, 2018) and more than 30 articles and academic chapters published in Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Germany, France, the United States of America. She is one of the most recognized feminist intellectuals in the Spanish-speaking context on issues related to necropolitics and feminisms.
