The Americas region has the highest rate of youth incarceration in the world with profound consequences for children and young people, families, communities, and the criminal justice system. Justicia Juvenil Internacional will develop and publish a toolkit documenting evidence-based alternatives to detention that reduce recidivism and optimize public resources. Over the grant period, JJI will disseminate these resources to relevant stakeholders across Latin America and conduct in-depth training and accompaniment in a subset of countries.
