In 2017, AlvarAlice launched a community-based mediation program, Abriendo Caminos, that trains community members to identify conflicts and work with the involved parties to seek a peaceful resolution. Tinker’s funds will enable the Abriendo Caminos team to continue its successful work on conflict mediation while building more intentional linkages to the formal justice system. The project aims to continue to address violence and conflict through proven mediation mechanisms and simultaneously strengthen the capacity of the state and the justice system to better serve communities.
