Chile has advanced progressive policies in fisheries management protecting nearly 40 percent of its marine area. However, the effective and equitable management of its resources is hampered by an array of overlapping policies and authorities. In consultation with local stakeholders, Chile California Council will facilitate the development of a coastal marine strategy that integrates local knowledge into institutional decision-making processes and improves governance coordination.
