Judicial independence is a cornerstone of the rule of law and the protection of rights. This proposed project emerged from extensive discussions with judicial associations and individual judges who see the need for greater action by the broader legal community to protect judicial independence. This project, which will involve research, convening, and training, seeks to both marshal support for judges already facing challenges and increase the capacity of the legal community to provide a backstop against emerging risks in other contexts.
