Organization for Youth Empowerment (OYE) responded to widescale school closures in Honduras with a holistic strategy involving support to teachers and students, textbook lending programs, and tutoring. With schools still closed, OYE will continue its efforts to reach and engage a core group of 2,000 high school students. OYE will establish six “community homework hotspots” that will serve as hubs for internet connectivity, tutoring, and social-emotional support. The organization will also train high school and university students in its network to serve as “education ambassadors” to school staff and coordinate educational and extracurricular programming at hotspots in these communities.
