With Tinker support, Tierraviva will work in more than 100 communities across three departments in the Chaco region to significantly increase access to justice. The heart of the project will be the identification and training of 30 local legal promotors who can serve as “first responders” on issues that emerge in indigenous communities, elevate more serious cases to Tierraviva staff, and serve as a bridge to government authorities. Tierraviva will also undertake research to diagnose key gaps in access to justice and establish a participatory research center to monitor landholding and environmental change in the Chaco.
