Avi has worked in various roles in public education for more than a decade in the United States and Latin America. He has served as a teacher and teacher trainer with the Peace Corps in Nicaragua, as a College Advisor at two public high schools in the Bronx, and performed field research on affirmative action policies in Brazil. Prior to joining Tinker, he was a Senior Program Manager for PENCIL, an education non-profit in New York City that leverages ideas, talents, and resources from the private sector to improve public school performance and connect students to success. Avi holds a graduate degree in International Education Policy and Management from Vanderbilt University and was awarded the Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship in Brazilian Portuguese. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, traveling, and trying all the foods that New York City has to offer.
