Letter of Inquiry Guidelines

Please submit your inquiry in English.

We recognize the intensity of effort required to prepare a complete grant request and, therefore, require potential applicants to submit a letter of inquiry (LOI) prior to developing a full proposal.

The letter of inquiry is your brief introduction to the proposed project; it is not meant to be an exhaustive description of the work. We accept LOIs through our online portal where you will be asked to provide the following information:

  1. organization address, telephone number, etc.
  2. primary contact name, email, etc.
  3. project title,
  4. brief narrative description of the project (one to two pages), and
  5. an estimate of the amount to be requested.

You may submit your LOI during active intake periods. These are timed to provide time for program officers to review and discuss promising LOIs with applicants and will close approximately four weeks prior to our two annual deadlines for full proposals, i.e., March 1 and September 15.

Please visit the portal, Tinker Foundation Inquiry & Grant System, for specific LOI dates for each deadline.
